Through the invitation of tactility and craft, Thea (Danish/English, born 2002) works to explore 'crumple zones' by drawing on her experience of living in a narrowboat community. Much of Thea's work seeks to maintain a direct connection to water through Shibori (fabric steaming). The material is delicately manipulated by repetitively folding, twisting and binding — before surrendering it to be re-shaped in the unpredictable steaming process.
Based in Edinburgh, Thea is currently exhibiting her most recent work: Fabric Steaming Through the Crocheted Hole, within the 2025 Edinburgh College of Art Graduate Show.
